Terms of service

These Terms govern your use of mtrz. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use mtrz.

The service

mtrz is a private group chat app for families and friends. Features may change over time. We may suspend or stop the service with reasonable notice when we can.

Your account

Your account is yours. A group is separate. You must provide accurate sign-in information and keep your account secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time in the app, or by following the steps at Delete Account. Deleting your account removes you from groups. It does not delete those groups.

Groups: Family and Friends

When you create a group you choose a type:

Family. By creating a Family group you confirm that:

1. The group is for families.
2. Only a parent or legal guardian should invite someone under 13.
3. You agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy for anyone you invite.
4. You remain responsible for members you add to that group, including after they join.

We record that you accepted this acknowledgment when the Family group was created. We do not collect ages or mark individual members as children.

Friends. Friends groups are not set up for inviting children under 13. If we learn of unauthorized under-13 use in a Friends group, we may remove that account.

Only a group admin can ask us to delete a group. Deleting your account does not delete a group, even if you are the last member.

Free groups keep album-saved messages and media, plus the newest 30 non-album group messages. Premium groups keep their full group history. If a Free group is inactive for 30 days, we may delete the entire group: its members, messages, media, calendars, and everything else in it.

Acceptable use

Do not use mtrz to break the law, harass others, distribute malware, scrape the service, or attempt to access other people’s accounts or data. We may remove content or accounts that violate these Terms.

Your content

Once you send a message or media in a group, that content belongs to the group. You give us a limited license to store and display it so the service can work for the members of that group. Other members may see, save, or screenshot what you share with them. Group retention rules may remove non-album messages from Free groups as described above.

In the app, you may delete individual messages or media you sent, one item at a time. There is no way to delete all of your posted content at once. Deleting your account also does not remove what you already posted.

Group content remains with the group, subject to the retention rules under Groups, until a group admin asks us to delete the group or we delete an inactive Free group.

Purchases

Premium plans, Storage add-ons, and Quality add-ons are billed by Apple or Google and apply to the group selected in the app. They renew until you cancel them in your Apple or Google account. Current sizes and prices are described on the FAQ. We can’t refund an App Store purchase; ask Apple. For Google Play, start in your Play order history, or write to us if that doesn’t work. Leaving a group or deleting your mtrz account can remove that group’s paid features, but does not stop store billing. Cancel each subscription separately in Apple or Google settings.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it. It is part of these Terms.

Disclaimers

mtrz is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, mtrz llc is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of mtrz. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $50.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. That ends your account. It does not delete groups you belonged to, or content you posted in them. Only a group admin can ask us to delete a group. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if we shut down the service. We may delete an inactive Free group as described under Groups.

Changes

We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
